Wow, that was intense! I just got back to dry land, fighting that beast of Grendel's mom was tough! I totally beat her though, it was a pretty rad fight.
My men and I took off right after my last post, and followed that ugly beast's tracks. When we reached the edge of the lake where she resided though, we found a not so great surprise. Aeschere’s head was lying on the ground next to the entrance and there were tons of sea monsters swimming all around in the water, yikes! That wasn't enough to scare me off though, I'm too tough and loyal to turn back at the sight of danger. I was pretty nervous though, not too sure if I would come back up alive or not, even in all my awesome armor. So I asked a few of the guys to take care of my men if I didn't come back, and divided some of my things between them. Unferth loaned me this sword, called Hrunting, which apparently had never failed in battle before (I guess the guy isn't a COMPLETE loser...) and off I went, diving into that scary lake.
It felt like FOREVER before I saw the bottom of the lake, at least half the day, and as soon as I got close that dumb monster mum grabbed me and drug me down! Luckily I had my awesome armor on though, otherwise she totally would have squashed me. On the way down though all those scary sea monsters tried to attack me too, making it totally difficult for me to attack Monster Mum! Oh, and remember that 'un-fail-able sword' Unferth gave me? It definitely did not work, that monster had some TOUGH skin! She was strong too, almost as strong as me. Out of the corner of my eye though I saw this HUGE sword hanging on her wall, like huge as in made for giants huge. Because I'm so clever and quick, I ran over, grabbed the huge sword and BAM! Only took one blow to take that lady down with it. That got me pretty stoked! The giant sword even began melting from the monster blood, it was nuts! Triumphant, as usual, I got ready to leave but then I saw Grendel's corpse laying on the ground, and knew I had to take the head back up with me as a trophy, especially since his dumb mum stole his arm from us.
Monster head and sword in hand, I swam back to the surface of the lake. It was much easier going up, because all of the sea monsters had left when I defeated Gendel's mum. When I got to the top, only my men were left, all those lame Danes went back to Heorot thinking that it was ME who died when all the blood from the monster came to the surface. Silly men, they should have had more faith in me, I'm BEOWULF! They'll be surprised to see me come back!
That's where we're headed now, just wanted to keep everyone posted first! I'm ready to go home too, hopefully with this defeat under my belt King Hrothgar will be okay with us leaving, we DID take care of all his problems.
I'll keep you posted! Beowulf out!
